Passing of Tommy McBride

Thomas Martin McBride, 57, died Feb. 20, 2010, at his home. He was born in Miami and lived in Vero Beach since 1992, coming from Coral Gables. He attended the University of Denver, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity, and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Miami. Before retirement, he was with the Coral Gables Fire Department. He was a director of the Fort Myers Broadcasting Co. for 23 years. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Linda J. McBride of Vero Beach; son, Michael J. McBride of Vero Beach; mother, Marilyn Williams of Vero Beach; and brothers, Gerald and Edward McBride, both of Fort Myers. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward J. McBride; sister, Patricia McBride; and son, John T. McBride. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Helen Catholic Church, 2000 20th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960. Services: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 23 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at noon Feb. 24 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Passing of Coach Ed Injaychock

Sad news about the passing of Coach Ed Injaychock. He touched our lives in such a positive way and we all have so many fond memories of him from our days at Gables. This morning, 2/22/10, Coach Injaychock died after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and lung cancer. He was 86.
 
 Ed Injaychock is survived by is wife of 62 years, Betty Lee Stapp Injaychock; sons, Bob and wife Debbie of St. Simons Island, GA; Tom and wife Carol of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Peggy and husband Rex Henderson of Asheville, Carol Jean and husband Bert McLees of Atlanta, GA; eight grand children; two sisters, Regina Galvin and Rita Marie
 
Born and raised in Wilkes-Berre, PA, he spent most of his adult life in Miami, FL where he was a coach and high school administrator at Coral Gables High School. He graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL where he was a member of the football and track teams and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. During his coaching years, his teams were very successful winning 2 state track championships, 5 football state championships, and 4 national high school championships. Two of his track athletes were members of the U.S. Olympic teams in the 1964 and 1972 games, one winning a gold medal. Ed was a co-founder and leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Dade County, FL. Ed and his wife Betty retired to the NC mountains and moved to Asheville, NC in 1985.
 
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 25th in the Pulliam Chapel at Givens Estates, followed by a reception.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Senior Adult Ministry of First Baptist Church, 5 Oak Street, Asheville, NC 28801; the Residence Assistance Ministry of Givens Estates, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803; or the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center, P.O. Box 25338 Asheville, NC 28813.

Room Availability Update
