We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Class of 1970 Alumni 2010 Scholarship Award is Jessica Herrera.  Jessica is an amazing young woman who at a very early age realized that each of us is the Master of our own destiny, while at the same time no individual is able to make it on there own.  Jessica plans to take the lessons she has learned through lifes challenges and combine them with her education to become an advocate for other young people.  In addition Jessica is a skilled writer who's work embodies the pain and passion of the human condition.

 

 

On June 8, 2010 Jessica was presented with the scholarship award in the office of Coral Gables High Principal, Adolfo Costa.  Donna Vogel-Allen made the presentation for our class of this award.  In attendance were Dan Finora, Barbara Inskeep, Gail Payne, and the teachers and counselors who recommended Jessica to us for the scholarship.  As you can see it was a very emotional moment for all involved.  In addition to receiving the certificate, Jessica had her Ed McMahon moment when she was also presented with the check.  As you see, Jessica will proudly be wearing the official Class of 1970 reunion t-shirt, which she just loves!  Jessica wil be pursuing her education at Florida International University.
